Julie, Nick and their family moved to Minnesota from Sweden. We learned a lot from their special appreciation and perception of design and how they described what they desire in a space. We proposed a screened in, covered porch poking out into their leafy site. The porch is overly tall, and connects to the main space, so Nick could hear his Replacements records (he is a big fan!) through an open door. The porch has an off-kilter peaked roof that splits the difference between their home’s balanced, rhythmic dormers. Translucent roof covering lets light in, while the screened-in sides keep it breezy. A retro fireplace will be perfect for this family to gather around in the fall.
